| So, those of you just joining us. . .the saga of my Z continues. . .After several visits from "experts" sent by my insurance carrier, my carrier has agreed that a failure to properly seal off the intakes during body work allowed debris to enter and destroy my passenger side, and possibly driver side turbos. Nice work. That's a $6500 hit the carrier is now picking up, plus a sweet luxury rental car in the meantime. The funny part is, I spent so much time researching the build before doing it, and boning up on things on this site, that by the end of it, my own insurance adjuster was calling me for tech explanations as to how and why it happened and why other causes could be eliminated, etc. It was hilarious. The conversation went like this nearly verbatim after I ran through 20 minutes of tech talk explaining how the Z32 works basically: Adjuster: clearly you know much more than either of our 'experts' could determine on their own. You obviously put a lot of time and research into it Me: Try 11 months of homework, 5 months of build, 1 week of heaven, and 2 months of body shop hell to get to where we are. Adjuster: Anyway it could have happened in the build? Me: Right. Possibly the most reputable specialist for that car in the world for that car pieced it together and sent it out on the road with debris in the intakes. Can we return to reality? Adjuster: I'll approve the repairs and extend your rental. I owe all of you a debt for the information I gathered here. Besides all the excellent general advice and technical expertise you all share, the specific data you shared regarding the stuck throttle issues forced my carrier to make my accident "no fault" on my record so no rate change. Yup, just faxed them the forum threads on topic with a letter, problem solved. So, what's the record for shortest turbo life-span? I can start the bidding at 500 miles (also the total number of miles I've been able to drive my Z in 10 months). Hopefully this will resolve the issues that got my motor pulled again. I know if I can actually drive the car for more than a week, I might not sell it ;-) And last but not least, I cannot thank enough the good people at Operation Z and Specialty Z for really making this a priority, nearly personal, in getting things squared away.
